The Balfour Winery in Kent has a lovely, open feel to it, with plenty of space to walk around and large decked patio area which overlooks the vineyard. The building with the tasting room and restaurant is nestled right in the middle of the vines!
Recommended plan:
- 09:04 am, Train from Charing Cross to Marden, 50 mins
- 10:15 am, taxi from Marden to Balfour, book here.
- 10:30 am, pre-drink on the patio or restaurant
- 12:00 pm, Tutored Wine Tasting (1hr) £45, book here.
- 1:30 pm, Lunch à la carte (2hrs)
- 3:45 pm, shuttle back to Marden
- 4:15 pm, train back to London
Three tips:
- The shuttle service is free and great. It usually seats about 10 people quite comfortably, but the timings can be a bit unpredictable. If you want to have more control over your day then it’s best to arrange a taxi.
- The vineyard does offer a walking tour but it’s expensive and takes two hours. So, we recommend doing a sit-down tasting and walking around the vineyard yourself.
- The restaurant offers afternoon tea during some seasons, which might be a nice option if you don’t fancy an à la carte lunch.
