Curated wine-themed daycations.

About this guide

The author of the list is someone who cares less about the legs and body of wine, and more about the warm fuzzy heartfeel of sharing a bottle of wine with those I love. She finds herself planning vineyard days so she can spend quality time with her friends, and so decided to share her research in this guide.

Fancy a daycation?

Days of wine-based fun, which take you out of the city but keep you close enough to return by 6pm. In time to go out out, eat a carb-heavy dinner on the couch, tuck your kids in for bed or embark on a ten-step skincare routine, if that’s your thing.

Drink, don’t drive

All vineyards on this guide can be accessed by train and taxi, so no one has to be the responsible designated driver. All journey times are under two hours, enough time for train snacks and chat, not long enough

Less jargon, more fun

This is a guide to enjoyable excursions; ideal for people who want to have a fun day out, and happen to like wine. It’s not written by a sommelier or by someone with any academic interest in oenology or viticulture.

The fine print

All itineraries come with estimated costs. When you book these may vary slightly because costs for trains, tours and meals vary based on seasonal variations, days of the week and other factors. The website has affiliate links, to help fund the guide.

These trips are ideal if you live in and around London, or if you’re visiting England with London as your base. These day trips will take you out into the Home Counties, to vineyards in the South East of the country.
