Chapel Down, Kent, 1hr from London St Pancras

Chapel Down is among the more recognisable brands of English wine, and the vineyard is expectedly grander than some of the others you can easily get to from London. They do a combination of still and sparking wines.

Sample for the day:

• 09:30 am, train from London St Pancras to Ashford Intl
• 10:20 taxi from Ashford Intl Stn to Chapel Down
• 12:30 pm, vineyard tour and tasting (2hrs), £30
• 02:45 pm, set menu set at The Swan restaurant, (2hrs) £48
• 05:00 pm, taxi back to the station
• 05:30 pm, train back to London

Things you should know:

• You can book the whole tour and lunch experience as one event which costs £110 with two glasses of still wine only with your meal. We preferred the set menu because we preferred the sparkling wine.
• The drive isn’t long but is a bit topsy turvy so if you are car sick, maybe sit in the front!
