Denbies Vineyard, for a train ride through the vines

Denbies is by far one of the easiest vineyards to get to, because you can actually walk from Dorking Station in Surrey to the Vineyard, weather permitting of course. They also win on entertainment value because the property has an actual mini train which takes you on a tour around the vineyard!

Proposed plan for the day:

  • 9:00 am, train from Victoria to Dorking, (1hr)
  • 10:10 am, walk or take a taxi to the vineyard, 15 mins
  • 10:30 am, grab a coffee at the Conservatory (no booking needed)
  • 11:00 am, Vineyard Train Tour (50 mins), £17.99 per person, Book here
  • 12:00 pm, Indoor Guided Wine Tasting, Book here
  • 1:30 pm, Lunch at The Gallery
  • 2:00 pm, Afternoon tea at the Vineyard Restaurant (available mid week), Book here
  • 4:00 pm, walk or taxi back to the station
  • 4:30 pm train back to London

Good to know:

  • You can skip the wine and cheese at the Cabana and just stick to sitting outdoors in the open air restaurant or drinking in the Conservatory while you wait for lunch or afternoon tea.
  • The afternoon tea here is a real treat because the vineyard hotel has lovely views of the vines. Plus it’s a small cozy area.
  • If you don’t want to do the wine train they also do a seated tasting. Book here.
