Gusbourne, vintage-only, single-estate wines from Kent

Gusbourne is just a 15 min drive away from Ashford International Station in Kent. The county is home to over 50 vineyards and wineries, where the soil and climate is ideal for growing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Gusbourne grows this holy trinity, and makes a range of sparkling and still wines. It’s one of the larger and most established producers of wine in the country.

Gusbourne’s vines are planted on the gorgeous south-facing slopes of the Kentish Weald. On a sunny clear day you can look down the slopes and see all the way down to Camber Sands on the south coast of the country.

Things you should know:

  • The vineyard is super easy to get to. Leave from London St Pancras, get to Ashford International Station in Kent in about 40 mins, and take a 15 min taxi to Gusbourne. Alternately you can take the train from London Bridge and get to Ashford Intl Station in about an hour.
  • Gusbourne offers a range of different tours and tastings; there’s something for every budget. A flight of four sparkling wines for £40 at the low end, and a fancy pants tasting and lunch paired with their high-end wines for £175 per person at the expensive end. Book here.
  • Gusbourne also does a picnic-style platter, which can be enjoyed indoors when the weather isn’t warm enough for al fresco dining.
  • Gusbourne has a tasting room called The Nest, which does a small selection of platters and nibbles. It isn’t a restaurant in the traditional sense; here the wine comes first and a seasonal menu is specifically planned to pair with the wine.
  • Dogs are welcome for walks and to the outdoor dining areas.

Some tips:

  • Definitely book a taxi, especially for the way back. Gusbourne recommends and we’ve used ETM cars who are super helpful. Info here.
  • There are plenty of vineyards within a short drive away from Gusbourne, so if you’re visiting you may want to vineyard hop. Perhaps visit Warehorne Vineyard or Wayfairer Wines, two smaller vineyards within a 10 min taxi ride away from Gusbourne.
